Congrats on the independence. You finally have the freedom to tell the rest of those Eurosnobs where they can stick their Euros. Keep up the good work.
Your favorite son,
America
PS
Any ideas on how to repeal NAFTA?

I'm pretty sure mild explosives are still illegal in Britain. Like everything else good and fun.

They already had at that freedom. And used it regularly. All this does is fuck their economy.

As long as they’re okay with the consequences! Might be a great time to visit there and get shortbread on the cheap.

Maybe? The biggest issue seems to be the financial sector getting locked out of the continent. Individual companies of course can just shift more jobs to EU compensate, but that would still be devastating for London, and Britain as a whole. It doesn’t have to happen, but everything I’ve read has been to the effect that they will need to agree to the same sorts of freedom of movement requirements Norway does. Given that leaving the EU was primarily about the immigration issue, that’s going to be tough to swallow until they are hurting badly, and who knows how much damage will be done by that point. With any luck they come to their senses in the exit negotiations.

No chance NAFTA get’s repealed and it will only get worse if Hillary is voted in. (Not a Trump supporter.) Look up TPP. If you thought the middle class was hemorrhaging jobs before....

Yes, just let us kidnap one of your lawyers and put him in a jail cell so he can go mildly insane and write a song that's almost impossible to sing first :D

That goes the opposite of what Barack Obama said (I like Obama, he’s done a lot of good and tried to do more but gets blocked), Britain “would be at the back of the queue for any trade deals with the U.S.” and that America wants Britain to stay in the E.U. As a voice and for good (ie, to give the U.S. A voice via the U.K. In th E.U.).
Still. Any change will still take a few years to iron out and then implement.

The US isn’t in the EU. US financial institutions have no problem doing business in the EU. The same will be true for UK banks.
It's not just an immigration issue at all. Fishing rights for the working class and a distrust of the wealthy/government also was a huge factor.

US financial institutions have to keep their data, and in many cases their people in the EU to do business there, lest they run afoul of EU regulations. UK banks can do the same, but there is a reason they are talking about moving jobs (and possibly even headquarters) to EU cities.

They just can’t catch a break.
Back in the 1980's, it was widely believed that Japan would basically own everything America. Now...

If Scotland was smart, they'd immediately vote to be released from the UK, then ask to join the EU. Glasgow = new financial hub.

I’m sure the pro-independence forces are already thinking about how they can get it done before the UK exits the EU so they can transition seamlessly. Seems like it would be the smart move at this point, and the previous referendum was close enough that it’s believable this one would be enough to shift popular sentiment that way.

That’s what I’m thinking. This would be the smart play if the banks would play along and have some tax incentives to do so.
